2006 · Abstract Strategy
Wayfinder
Players guide Polynesian tribes scattered across a group of islands, taking the role of navigator-priests seeking to reunite their people and establish villages. On each turn, a voyage begins from the navigator’s location. All tribespeople there are collected and distributed one at a time across the spaces along the route, in a mancala-like movement. A village forms when exactly five tribespeople of one color occupy a space, with villages of a player’s own color scoring more points. Huts mark completed villages for end-game scoring. Between turns, players race to place their navigator and determine the starting point of their next voyage. The game ends when no further moves are possible, and the highest score wins.
