In 1589, the northern Rhineland is swept by persecution and summary trials for heresy, witchcraft, and lycanthropy. Players lead a group of defenders in a desperate attempt to save Magdalena Roth, a young woman falsely accused of being a werewolf, before her execution at Vespers. This cooperative game lasts eight turns. Players gather evidence of the Prior’s fanaticism, sabotage the execution by extinguishing torches or stealing bundles, lure the witch hunter into the forest, and persuade the crowd to leave. The Pure and the witch hunter remain suspicious, so a false move can expose the rescuers and send them to the stake.
