Darklight: Memento Mori

Four cursed heroes explore randomly generated dungeons in a dark-gothic setting, fighting grotesque monsters, avoiding traps, and resolving events to reach a Quest Room and complete mission objectives. Combat and exploration reward treasure and the souls of defeated foes, which function as currency and a resource to extend a character’s life. Between missions, players make narrative choices on hazardous journeys, visit a settlement to buy equipment, train or take part in local activities, and develop reputation that affects future play.

Completely unbalanced and chaotic. After 3 plays we decided to shut down the campaign and look elsewhere for fun, because this is no fun. In our last play we got 2d6 crawlers and 2d6 seekers(?). Roll dice and got 12 and 11: 23 enemies!! Seriously?? And caught in a narrow passageway. Of course we died and died again and again. We also got instadeath with a guillotine and more death when a spiked ceiling fell and we got no 6s in our dice rolling the 4 times we tried. It was already pointless when we came into what was supposed to be a manor and the first hall we found was a sacrificial site. Laughable, but it was OK. But the monster spawning is simply crazy. Never again.
