Beast
Hunters track and attempt to kill a colossal creature roaming forests, swamps and caverns near human settlements. The Beast moves by a hidden deck of direction cards, leaving ambiguous trails that only become certain when a hunter searches a location or the Beast attacks. Players take actions by playing cards from their hands (up to two per turn), and both hunters and the Beast draft key cards each round. Hunters must coordinate movement, searching and attacks to reveal and corner the Beast, while the player controlling the Beast uses deception and movement to mislead and outmaneuver the hunters.

Rules questions
Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.
How does the Beast move and how do I know its actual location?
The Beast player places face‑down movement cards into the Active movement area for each step instead of moving the standee; the standee shows the Beast's last known location while the face‑down cards determine the Beast's actual location (use the minimap/location tokens if you like). (pages 4–5)
When is the Beast revealed — can hunters attack it while it’s hidden?
The Beast is revealed whenever it performs an attack; hunters can only attack a revealed Beast (hunters may attack summons anytime but not an unrevealed Beast). (pages 6, 7)
What makes trails appear, and do “No Movement” cards create trails?
Trails are placed whenever a hunter moves over a location that matches one of the Beast's active movement cards (the Beast standee also counts as trail); “No Movement” cards do NOT generate trails. (page 5)
How do wounds and death work for hunters and the Beast?
Each attack deals 1 base damage and you place wound tokens; when wounds equal a character’s starting health it dies and is removed—if the Beast dies the hunters immediately win, whereas a dead hunter loses items/grudges, is removed, and returns during the third step of the night. (page 6)
How many cards can I play on my turn and can I ignore effects on a card?
On your turn you may play up to one card of the red symbol and up to one card of the green/blue symbol (in any order), and you may choose to ignore optional effects unless they are tied to an “if” requirement or ordered by a “then.” (pages 4, 7)
