Ambush at Rannungen: A 1985 MBT Scenario
This scenario depicts a hypothetical 1985 engagement in the Fulda Gap, pitting a reinforced US tank company team from the 1st Infantry Division (Forward) against a reinforced Warsaw Pact motorized rifle battalion in Germany. Using the MBT rules, players deploy forces across four maps based on period terrain, with contours showing elevation. The US force seeks ambush positions that provide flank and rear shots while reducing exposure to artillery, then must withdraw and reposition after the engagement. The scenario includes briefings, battle books, deployment instructions, orders of battle, and a terrain key. A copy of the initial MBT game is required; expansion sets are optional, with substitute counters provided.
