Americana: The Card Game

Set during America’s 1950s and ’60s, this card game examines the American Dream through historical events, popular culture, and issues including race, gender, socioeconomic status, queerness, government, the environment, and consumerism. Each card combines a brief description and often an illustration with a positive or negative value and an action reflecting its historical impact. Players draw cards, add them to their hands, and play one toward their American Dream, resolving actions such as drawing, discarding, or making another player discard. Demographic cards can provide lasting advantages and bonus draws, representing the effects of social privilege. The first player whose played cards reach a net value of 10 or more wins. Games support 2–6 players and take about 15 minutes.
