Austerlitz 1805: Napoleon's Greatest Victory
This tactical wargame recreates the Battle of Austerlitz, where Napoleon’s Grande Armée faced the Austro-Russian Allied army in a decisive engagement of the Napoleonic Wars. Players command infantry battalions, cavalry regiments, and artillery batteries across 20-minute turns and 150-yard hexes. A chit-based command system determines which formations can activate, with commanders rolling to carry out orders and risking command breakdowns. Combat includes line, column, and skirmish formations, requiring coordinated use of artillery, infantry, and cavalry. Special rules cover elite units, cavalry reserves, the French Grand Battery, and morning fog. Six scenarios include full-battle games, smaller engagements, and a learning scenario.
