Battles of Napoleon: Vol. 3 – Aspern-Essling 1809

A tactical wargame depicting the Battle of Aspern-Essling in 1809, including the fighting along the northern bank of the Danube and the French defeat. Players command infantry battalions, cavalry regiments, artillery batteries, and formations led by generals across a hex-based battlefield. An innovative chit-based command system determines which formations activate, while players choose the formation to act and manage the effects of repeated activations. Orders, timing, terrain, concealed unit strength, and the coordination of infantry, cavalry, and artillery shape the battle. Special rules cover Austrian column formations, ammunition shortages, defensive structures, and the arrival of French reinforcements.
