Bohemians

2025 · Card Game

Bohemians

Players portray aspiring artists wandering turn-of-the-century Paris, balancing creative ambition with the demands of daily life. Each round, players plan a day: go on dates, attend social events, meet muses, produce art, or take paid work. Play is card-driven — collecting and sequencing cards yields bonuses and inspiration that fuel actions. Inspiration is spent to acquire new cards and build a personal deck of habits, muses, and career achievements. Victory goes to the artist who secures the most achievements from the achievement deck.

Rules questions

Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.

How many Habit and Muse cards can I play during the Wake Up phase?

During Wake Up you may play either up to 3 Habits plus 1 Job tile, or up to 4 Habits; after that you may play Muse cards attached to Habits (Muses must be attached to a Habit and each Habit may have only 1 Muse unless a card says otherwise). (pages 9, 8)

Do unused Inspiration carry over to the next round?

Unspent Inspiration on your turn is not lost: at the end of your Day Phase you add any leftover Inspiration to your Atelier (where it becomes stored Inspiration and can be spent later). (page 12; see Atelier rules page 13)

Can I buy more than one Achievement in the same round?

No — a player may gain only one Achievement card per round, even if they have enough Inspiration for more. (pages 12, 8)

When do Muse abilities apply and do Muses require a Habit above them?

You play Muses during the Wake Up phase attached under Habits (each Muse must be attached to a Habit and only if that Habit space is occupied), and their effects (including Inspiration) are applied during the Day Phase when you count Inspiration. (pages 9, 8, 10–11)

What happens if my deck runs out while drawing Habit cards?

If you need to draw and your deck is empty, shuffle your discard pile to form a new deck and continue drawing. (page 9)

How do Achievement discounts and Atelier timing work?

Each Achievement card gives a −1 discount to one Atelier effect once per round (flip the Achievement to track its use), you may activate Atelier effects only on your own turns (not during another player's Day Phase), and you can activate the same effect multiple times if you can pay the cost. (page 13)
