Die Festung Hamburg
NATO vs. Warsaw Pact in the North German Plain. Set in July 1985, the game covers a Warsaw Pact assault on NATO positions across northern West Germany, with objectives including access to the Baltic region and control of North Sea ports. Players command regiment- and battalion-sized formations across a 5 km-per-hex map, managing command, control and communications, supply, intelligence, electronic warfare, artillery, air support, and attack helicopters. Doctrine-specific capabilities, random events, chemical and nuclear warfare, and the pressure of time create battlefield uncertainty. Two campaign games and four smaller scenarios cover conventional and escalating nuclear operations.
