Holotype: Mesozoic North America
Players take roles in a paleontology team and use three worker types—Paleontologist, Grad Student and Field Assistant—to collect fossils, perform research and publish new dinosaur and marine reptile holotypes. Gameplay is light, fast-paced worker placement: players gather specimens, analyze them through research actions, and assemble and publish taxa to score points. Personal objectives and semi-collaborative global objectives reflect cladistics and taxonomy, encouraging both individual goals and shared contributions. Victory points come from published holotypes, completed personal objectives and contributions to global objectives; the highest total wins.
