Why kill Siegel? Why not? He’s a killer and a racketeer, a founding member of Murder Inc. who muscled his way into L.A. and stole Vegas for his own kingdom. And somewhere in there he made a deal with someone worse than Lucky Luciano – or rather, with Something worse. He’s protected from Down Low, which beats Up High in his rigged games. He’s made himself the Emperor in the West, and his touch corrupts the land and turns it into a poison garden, an invert Waste Land. And he’s going to do the same thing to everywhere he can reach, which will be everywhere, unless he’s stopped. By you.
