Newtown

This historical wargame covers 18th-century fighting between American forces and Indian armies, with rules reflecting independent war parties, honor, resolve under artillery fire, ferocity, and evasion. A three-tiered movement system models the limited coordination of small forces, while opportunity-card decks give each side different ways to influence play. Pre-game Indian enhancements, limited American intelligence, optional reinforcements, and momentum-based card purchases help balance the opposing forces. Scenarios feature concealed ambush locations, variable marching rates, special militia units, supply-wagon procedures, looting, artillery detachments, laagering, limbering, and possible storms. The outcome depends on movement decisions, morale, and how each side responds to the threat of ambush.
