2017 · Expansion for Base-game
Scythe: The Wind Gambit
Players expand their empires across Eastern Europa using a new means of movement and a new way to end the contest. Airships introduce a flying unit that moves independently of rivers and lakes, does not control territories, and carries a pair of abilities (one aggressive, one passive) that are shared across all players. Airships are activated with a Move action and add a layer of strategic positioning and reach. Resolutions replace the standard end-game trigger with a selectable tile that changes when and how the game ends, letting players adapt strategy to a different victory condition and pacing.

Rules questions
Answered from the rulebook by Ludoya's rules assistant.
Does my airship control the territory it’s on?
No. Airships never control territories, even when alone there at the end of the game; resources on that territory therefore aren’t yours to spend unless you control it another way (p. 3).
Can my airship fly over rivers or onto an opponent’s territory?
Yes. Airships ignore rivers and lakes and can move onto or off opponent-controlled territories, up to the range shown on the passive tile; they can’t move onto home bases or through tunnels or mines (p. 5).
How do transporting resources and workers on an airship work?
During the airship’s Move action, it can carry up to 3 resources or 2 workers, picking them up or dropping them before, during, or after movement; it can’t pick up opponents’ resources. Workers must be dropped on a territory unoccupied by opponents and can’t move directly from the airship to another territory (p. 4).
Does each player get different airship abilities?
In the standard game, all players’ airships share the same two abilities: one randomly selected aggressive tile and one passive tile. The advanced variant gives each player their own pair (p. 3, 5).
Does the game still end as soon as someone places their sixth star when we use a resolution tile?
No. With the resolution module, ignore the standard sixth-star end-game trigger; the selected resolution tile determines when and how the game ends. Players can still never place more than 6 stars, though multiple players may reach 6 (p. 6).
