Taboo

1989 · Word Game

Taboo

Players try to get their team to guess a target word by giving verbal clues while a visible card shows the forbidden words that cannot be used. The active player may say anything except the target word itself, the listed taboo words, or use gestures; opponents monitor and penalize any violations with a buzz. Rounds are timed; each correctly guessed target scores a point for the clue-giving team, while rule infractions award the point to the opposing team. Play proceeds through as many cards as possible before the timer runs out, emphasizing quick thinking and vocabulary control.

It's OK! Kind of feels like you're on a game show. Has to be the right party-game vibe. Jackbox games are more fun, but you generally don't look at each other when you play those. 6/10.
