Agricola, Master of Britain

Set during the early Flavian era, the player acts as Rome’s provincial governor tasked with pacifying Britain through a mix of military, administrative, diplomatic, and corrupt measures. Play is solitaire and driven by a concealed-allegiance system: three chit-pull cups (Friendly, Unfriendly, Hostile) represent local units and tribes, and actions move chits between cups so the true loyalties are only revealed when drawn. Players recruit troops, deploy forces, stabilize regions, bribe or intimidate leaders, and respond to rebellions while managing escalating expectations from Rome. Success requires timing and balancing repression with pacification as the political pressure from the emperor increases each season.
