Breakout: Normandy

A two-player simulation of the Allied invasion of Normandy and the subsequent breakout attempts. One player commands the Allied landing forces aiming to establish and expand a beachhead; the other commands German forces trying to repel the landings and contain any Allied breakout. Units represent regiments and brigades of infantry, airborne, armor, artillery, anti-tank and anti-aircraft forces, and the map focuses on the Normandy landing area. Play uses an area-impulse system to drive activation and movement, with combat and maneuver resolving attempts to hold or expand control of coastal sectors.
