This expansion advances play into higher-level danger by shifting mechanics and content for characters roughly levels 5–9. Combat and save rolls move to a d8 scale and new monster reactions and tougher creatures change encounter dynamics. Players gain access to expert skills, additional spells for magic-users and elves, and rules for maladies such as madness, disease, vampirism and lycanthropy.
