Gustav Adolf the Great: With God and Victorious Arms

A tactical wargame covering five battles from the career of Gustav II Adolf, focusing on the rise and climax of the Swedish military system during the early Thirty Years' War and related campaigns. Armies are divided into wings, each led by a commander and an order that restricts the actions available to units in that wing. Players command infantry battalions or brigades, cavalry regiments and artillery batteries, coordinating orders to achieve victory. Rules model period specifics such as cavalry charges, cavalry pistols for skirmish and melee, and artillery grazing fire. Scenarios recreate engagements against Polish winged hussars, Tilly's Catholic League forces and Wallenstein's Imperial army; most battles play through in a single session.
