Volo's Guide to the Dalelands

A travel guide to the Dales of the Dragonreach in the Heartlands of the Realms, describing notable establishments, landmarks, dangers, and local curiosities. Attractions are rated using a coin, dagger, pipe, and tankard system, helping distinguish worthwhile destinations from places best avoided. The guide covers gem-filled caverns, cursed barrow tombs, the tombs of the Twelve Dancing Wizards, the Talking Bone, the Chessmen of Valsprendar, a sleeping god, and a door leading to a distant room across Faerûn. Notes and commentary by the archmage Elminster accompany the account.
