Prophecies fail, demons invade, living dungeons rise, and powerful icons such as the Archmage, Lich King, and Prince of Shadows struggle for control. Players create distinctive characters defined by a unique feature, personal backgrounds, and relationships with the world's major powers. Streamlined combat includes an escalation die for fast-moving battles, while character details provide plot hooks. Game Masters can quickly build monsters and adventures, using those backgrounds and other character elements to shape the story.
