Banned Words

Banned Words is a board game for 4–99 players. It plays in 30 minutes and is meant for ages 12 and up. Ludoya players call it best with 4.

Teams try to get teammates to guess five secret words or phrases while avoiding words the opposing team anticipated. Each round, both teams receive the same five target words and secretly write a list of words they expect the other team’s clue-giver might say. A designated clue-giver swaps cards with the opposing team and gives verbal clues while teammates guess; opponents reveal any banned words that are spoken. Points are awarded both for correct guesses and for catching banned words, and play proceeds for three rounds with the higher-scoring team winning.
