Barbarossa: Army Group South, 1941

A detailed operational wargame covering the German summer 1941 offensive in the southern Soviet Union. Players command Axis and Soviet formations across multiple large maps, maneuvering divisions, corps and specialized units using counters that represent units from infantry and armor to artillery, engineers and armored trains. Play uses an asymmetrical sequence that emphasizes Axis armored breakthroughs and Soviet command rigidity. Combat, air operations and weather interact with revised overrun and surrender procedures and a non-operational Soviet HQ system. Eight scenarios range from introductory actions to a full campaign, with extensive orders of battle, setup aids and historical notes to support period play.
