Down in Flames: WWII-Guns Blazing

Players take the roles of aircraft leaders and wingmen in World War II air combat, using action cards to maneuver into advantageous positions, fire guns, and respond to enemy attacks. Each card can be countered by specific other cards, creating a back-and-forth action-reaction system. Aircraft are defined by ratings for performance, horsepower, bursts, damage, and airframe strength. Positioning determines when aircraft can attack and provides bonuses, while altitude affects card draws and discards. The game includes fighters, light, medium, and heavy bombers, along with six historical campaigns covering conflicts in Europe, the Pacific, North Africa, and the Soviet Union.
