Players portray noble families in 15th-century France, vying for secular and ecclesiastical power by controlling villages, acquiring royal and church titles, and increasing income from fiefs and tithes. Gameplay mixes area control, resource management and negotiation: move lords and troops on a map of fiefs and bishoprics, buy titles and fortifications, recruit knights and siege engines, and resolve combats with dice. Family members can pursue clerical careers to become bishops, cardinals or pope, or arrange marriages to form alliances that share victory. Random event cards, taxation, marriage diplomacy and imprisonment or death of nobles shape shifting strategies and long-term dynastic planning.
