Hordes of the Things

A fantasy miniatures wargame played from a single rulebook in which players field armies made of 10–14 stands or “elements.” Units cover a wide range, from powerful Heroes, Magicians and Dragons to Blades, Riders, Spears and massed Hordes, and a few restrictions govern which elements may serve as generals or count as high‑power types. Players alternate taking turns and roll for action points (PIPs) to move individual or grouped elements, deploy certain units and activate magical effects. Combat is resolved by opposed die rolls plus unit combat factors, with results ranging from automatic destruction to forced withdrawals depending on comparative scores. Army lists are open-ended, allowing construction of forces to represent many fantasy sources; numerous example lists are provided in the book.
