A village of intrigue stands on both banks of a swift river, divided between two rival noble lords and connected by a fortified stone bridge of ancient dwarven design. Free traders operate businesses along the bridge, resisting taxation and allegiance to either side while rumours of an impending conflict spread. Hidden stairs may lead beneath the bridge to long-forgotten catacombs beneath the riverbed, where foul creatures are said to dwell. The setting provides a detailed village that can serve as a waystop, adventure site, or player character home in a fantasy campaign.
