Patchwork Express

Players build a compact quilt on a personal 7x7 grid by selecting and placing polyomino-like patches from a communal circle. On a turn, a player either buys one of the three patches clockwise from the marker—paying a button cost, moving the marker, placing the piece, and advancing on a shared time track—or passes to gain buttons and advance toward the opponent. Button icons on placed patches generate periodic income when a player’s time token crosses income spaces. Small 1x1 patches on the time track and later-introduced darker, smaller pieces help fill gaps. The game ends when both players’ time tokens reach the finish; score equals remaining buttons minus empty squares on the board.
