The Battle of the Tagus River

This historical battle scenario depicts Hannibal’s first major engagement in Spain in 220 BC, after his campaign against the Vaccei cities of Hermandica and Arbocala. Pursued by a large Spanish tribal force while returning to New Carthago with his booty, Hannibal uses a feigned retreat across the Tagus River before turning back to attack. As an expansion module for SPQR in the Great Battles of History series, it uses the system’s command and combat rules to recreate this Carthaginian maneuver and the resulting clash.
