Attila

Attila

Players influence the migrations of Germanic tribes into the provinces of a declining empire through strategic card play and area control. Each player holds a hand of tribe cards; on a turn a card is played to place that tribe’s marker onto the board or to increase that player’s influence in an already-present tribe. When a province accumulates five tribal markers, a war resolves: tribe strength equals markers present and players may commit matching cards to boost strength, with the weakest tribes (those with the lowest totals) removed from the province. Scoring happens four times over the game at century intervals; majority and runner-up influence in each tribe score points based on marker counts and area presence. Players balance expanding tribes they control, conserving matching cards for wars, and manipulating conflict timing and location to protect allies and eliminate rivals.
