Tetrarchia
Players take the roles of four late-Roman rulers trying to stabilize an empire beset by revolts and barbarian invasions. On each turn a player spends up to six Imperivm Points to move forces, sail fleets, secure provinces, subdue rebellions or attack enemies, then advances threats by rolling two dice. The game is cooperative for 1–4 players, with modular expansions and scenario variants that add new challenges and optional competitive play. Victory occurs if the group secures the imperial frontiers before a majority of provinces rebel or Rome falls; difficulty is adjustable across many levels and scenarios.

Light "wargame", you must control the different areas to win, I don't especially like the dice throwing mechanism but the strategy mitigates that a bit the bad luck you could have. You have 81 variants but values above 4211 are so easy that they aren't challenging enough.
Smart solo/coop game abstracting a historical theme pretty well. PROS - It feels smart in how simply it abstracts the historical situation. - Pretty easy to grasp and play. - Very adjustable between the many difficulty levels, the expansion modules and the variants. CONS - It lacks a bit of unpredictability for my personal taste, would love for armies and pirates to do some weird moves on a 6+ maybe.
