D-Day at Tarawa
A solitaire tactical wargame that recreates the four-day assault on a heavily defended Pacific atoll in November 1943. The player commands American platoon- and company-level units attempting amphibious landings and inland advances while the opponent forces, representing entrenched defenders, are driven by an automated game system. Components include a detailed map, unit counters, and event/activation cards; play focuses on coordinating landings, suppressing bunkers, managing casualties and reinforcements, and clearing sectors of island terrain. Scenarios cover the initial beach assaults through the island’s clearance, with operational decisions and card-driven events determining defender reactions and battlefield tempo.
