Ladrillazo

2017 · Card Game

Ladrillazo

Players take the role of intermediaries during Spain’s early-2000s real-estate boom, courting local politicians and construction firms to develop neglected parcels of land. Gameplay centers on speculation, acquiring projects, leveraging political and corporate connections, and financing ever-larger developments while managing mortgages and public funds. Cards depict real people, places and projects from the era and drive events and opportunities. The game ends when national funding collapses; the winner is the player who has hidden and parked the largest sum in offshore havens.

Love theme, but not mechanics. I enjoy when I play it, but I feel sooooooo lazy when it´s proposed. It all comes down to craft cards, hide the money, and pray for the best projects. Lot of turns doing nothing if you are unlucky with the cards.
