Le Dernier Peuple

2015 · Card Game

Le Dernier Peuple

Players represent a small people trying to score by maneuvering two meeples around a circle of cards. Each player has a home card in their color and may optionally activate a unique power card before taking the movement phase. On a turn a player either draws two movement cards or plays one movement card then draws one. Movement cards show grey downward arrows to move a friendly meeple and black upward arrows to move an opponent’s meeple; each arrow lets a meeple move by a number of spaces (clockwise or counterclockwise) or move toward a card with a specific number. Points are scored by surrounding a home card with two meeples or with one friendly and one opponent meeple. The first player to reach 12 points wins.

Nothing wrong with the game mechanics-wise, but there's just not much there. The game is really just grab the best card on your turn and hope it's one that gets you where you want to go. Interesting concept, but I think it needs some more meaningful choice. Would very likely play it with some sort of update to that effect.
