Mahjong

1850 · Abstract Strategy

Mahjong

Players use a shared set of illustrated tiles—three numbered suits, dragons, winds, and optional flowers/seasons—to build a winning hand similar to rummy. Four players draw from the wall or claim opponents’ discards to form sequences, triplets/quadruplets, pairs, and special patterns; claiming a discard follows priority rules (e.g., Pung over Chow, Mahjong takes precedence). Play proceeds around the table until one player completes a legal hand and wins; scoring and specific meld rules vary by regional rule set.

Played this in my Chess days and had fun. Not much use these days.
