2015 · Card Game
Matcha
Players collect tea utensils needed for a formal tea ceremony by matching face-down otemae cards on the table by number (1–4) or suit (tea, water, bowl, scoop). Cards are played secretly, so bluffing and timing matter: sometimes playing a non-matching card is strategically preferable. The game uses a small deck of 18 otemae cards and chadogu tokens; players choose when and where to play to build sets and deny opponents. Rounds resolve as cards are revealed and utensils are claimed until a player assembles the required items for the ceremony.
