Mutter Natur

In Mutter Natur, players work together to build a web of life, from plants to the golden eagle at the top of the food chain. Each player begins with a hand containing part of the cards needed to complete the ecosystem, but players cannot freely reveal their cards to one another. To win, the group must play the necessary environmental conditions and species in the correct sequence before the final round ends. Each round consists of a planning and symbiosis phase followed by a reveal phase. During planning, all players simultaneously choose one card from their hand and place it face down. Players may use a limited number of symbiosis actions to share information, exchange a card with another player, or swap a condition card with a card from the discard pile. During the reveal phase, players reveal their chosen cards one at a time, starting with the first player. A species can be added to the web of life only after all of its required conditions have been played. As species become established, they allow new conditions and further species to be added, gradually extending the web. Any revealed card that cannot legally be placed is discarded. The players win together if they complete the web of life through the golden eagle. If they run out of cards without being able to play the golden eagle, they lose.
