Prairie Aflame!

An operational treatment of the Northwest Rebellion of 1885, depicting the conflict between the Canadian federal government and the Métis, Woods Cree, and Plains Cree. Players command battalions, Northwest Mounted Police detachments, militias, artillery, Gatling guns, and rebel forces across the Canadian Prairies. Units may operate as battalions for improved morale or break down for greater mobility, while leaders influence operations and combat. The map covers the region from Edmonton and Calgary to Qu’Appelle, with each hex representing 11 miles and each turn one week. Strength points represent 50 men, and the campaign includes the government’s mobilization and railway-supported response over four months of fighting.
