Punto

2018 · Abstract Strategy

Punto

Players build a shared 6x6 grid by drawing from a personal face-down deck and placing the top card each turn. Cards show 1–9 dots and may be placed in an empty space adjacent to existing cards or played atop another card only if the new card shows more dots than the covered card. A round ends when a player forms a line of four or five cards in their color; that winning line’s highest-dot card is removed from the game, decks are reshuffled, and a new round begins. Matches are best of three rounds; two-round wins take the game. Player counts change setup: two players use doubled decks per player and aim for a single color line, while three players introduce neutral blocker cards drawn from the unused color.
