Rune Stones

Players take the roles of druids who summon creatures, gather gems and work with dwarven forges to craft artifacts and combine them into rune stones. On a turn a player either summons new creatures from a display by spending spell power, plays two cards from hand for resources or effects (then removes the higher-numbered of the two from their deck), or forges artifacts by spending gems at specific forges. Rune stones grant permanent abilities and points; using more artifacts in a stone increases its value. The game ends when a player reaches the target score and the highest-scoring druid wins.

Very boring game. Collect gems too build some bigger gems and then turn them into VPs. Rinse and repeat about a 100 times. Good cards and the bigger gems are usually taken before it's your turn. Multiplayer solitaire at its best... It is too long for what it offers. Simplistic at its most, it gives a few interesting mechanics, but overall it felt pretty basic and old. It is a game I wanted to like and enjoy, but hopefully I won't play it again

On your turn, you can play a set of cards of the same color to purchase new cards from the display, spend gems matching the colors and quantities matching those in the center of the board to take artifacts and gain an ongoing special ability, or play two cards from your hand resolving the abilities of those cards. Then the card with the higher number is culled from your deck. The game is a race to reach the point threshold, with equal turns for all players. The game play is very smooth. Turns are quick and the game gives you a good sense that you are always building towards something. The ongoing power-ups for forging artifacts gives you the opportunity to specialize your path through the game in a few interesting ways. It would be nice for there to be a few more of these to keep replayability high. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :star: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::nostar::nostar::nostar: Raw enjoyment
