Small City

Players act as the mayor of a borough and have eight turns to earn the most votes and win re-election. On each turn, players attract citizens, expand residential areas, and develop commercial and industrial sectors while managing pollution and infrastructure. Citizens placed in housing, cultural buildings, and well-sited commercial areas generate votes, and fulfilling initial campaign promises adds additional points. The game resolves after eight rounds; the player with the highest total votes (victory points) wins.

Now this is a city builder! Each round in this game players build 1-3 building tiles, or they build 1, and expand the area they are allowed to cover on their boards. The building tiles are tetris pieces, and their placement rules and abilities change slightly depending on their size. Similar to in Town Center, to have a larger building it needs a certain number of adjacent tiles of the correct colors. This can be extremely challenging, because while this is all happening you need to worry about creating enough jobs to attract new meeples to your board, and you need to worry about managing your pollution levels, because each turn you accrue pollution which converts directly to negative points at the end of the game, and worse yet, other players can send one of their meeples to your city, to get in your way and take those crucial action spaces on your buildings that you so carefully constructed. The game is complicated, tense and really fantastic. I can't wait for more plays of this game. :star: Art, Iconography and components functional :star: Clever or interesting mechanisms :nostar: Reasonably low downtime between turns with mildly AP players :star: Multiple plays stay interesting :star: Low or mitigatable luck elements :star::star::star::star::nostar: Raw enjoyment
