Solitaire or cooperative game of the Byzantine and Holy Roman Empires from 629 to 1204 CE, facing Arabs, Bulgars, Magyars, Moors, Vikings, Saxons, Slavs, and Turks. Players manage imperial administration, appoint governors, raise taxes, deploy troops and fortifications, conduct diplomacy, and fight wars across ten-turn scenarios. Prestige comes from governing provinces, expanding the empire, winning wars, and funding public entertainments, while bankruptcy, unrest, or the loss of Constantinople or Rome can bring defeat. Scenarios begin in several historical periods and can be linked into extended campaigns.
