The Halls of Montezuma

A fast-paced card-driven simulation of the Mexican–American War, covering campaigns and political pressures from 1846–1848. Players use a shared deck of strategy and action cards to move armies, activate fleets, trigger historical events, manage lines of communication, and conduct invasions. Commanders from the period appear as card-driven options that influence movement and combat, while dice and unit strengths determine battle outcomes so that small, well-played forces can upset larger formations. One side wins by eroding the opponent’s political will; Mexico can also pursue early, sudden victories before the United States fully mobilizes. Components include a large map sheet, a 110-card deck, player aids, quick-start reference, rules booklet, and multiple counter sheets.
