King of Tokyo: Duel

Two giant monsters clash in Tokyo, battling for dominance through destruction and spectacle. Players pick distinct monster characters, roll dice to gain energy, attack, heal, or collect fame, and use tokens and special power cards to shift a tug-of-war track toward victory. Play alternates as players manage dice rerolls, spend energy on cards that create new effects, and aim to either reduce the opponent’s health to zero or reach the required fame to claim the throne.

Do I always roll 6 dice? What about extra dice and the first player's first turn?

You may roll all 6 dice on your first roll, plus up to 2 extra dice if you discarded Dice tokens or have a power (never more than 8 dice); the very first player on their very first turn rolls only 5 dice. (p.6)

If I set some dice aside on an earlier roll, can I take them back for a later roll?

Yes — before each new roll you may take back any dice you previously set aside and include them in the next roll. (p.7)

Do Smash (paw) results damage everyone or just my rival, and how much damage do they do?

Each Smash (paw) in your final Roll causes your Rival to take 1 damage (lose 1 heart) per paw; if that damage reduces their last heart to a skull you immediately win. (p.7)

How do the Star (★) and Destruction (☠) dice move their markers — what does a triple mean?

For each triple of ★ or ☠ you pull the corresponding marker 1 space toward you, and for each additional matching symbol beyond the triple you pull it 1 extra space (e.g., three = 1 space, five = 3 spaces). (p.8)

When I buy a Buzz card where may I place its Buzz token, and how does a Buzz token interact with Spotlight or Victory spaces?

A Buzz token must be placed on top of one or more spaces of any track but not on another Buzz token or a space already covered by a ★ or a marker; Buzz token spaces that lie entirely in the Spotlight Zone count as Spotlight spaces, and a Buzz token on the Victory space still makes that space a Victory space. (pp.10, 11)

How does The King's special Buzz token stop marker movement?

There are two King Buzz tokens and when The King's Rival pulls a ★ or red marker, its movement stops immediately if it reaches a King Buzz token (any remaining movement is lost); if a marker starts its movement on the King token it moves normally. (p.15)
