The Longest Day

Operational-level monster wargame covering the assault, buildup, and breakout of the 1944 Normandy invasion. Players command Allied and German forces at battalion through corps scale using over 2,600 counters that represent infantry, armor, artillery, assault guns, and support units across seven large map boards covering the beachheads and inland sectors. Gameplay uses a programmed-instruction progression of five scenarios that introduce rules incrementally, leading to a full campaign that can require many sessions or months to complete. Play emphasizes maneuver, logistics, and command coordination at a high operational scale.
