Two players take the roles of rival mages dueling inside a sentient lodge dominated by a supernatural force known as the Black Rose. Players draft and play spells and actions from a shared deck, manage resources and summon evocations to control the battlefield and disrupt the opponent. The game teaches core mechanics of the larger system—spell selection, planning, and resource management—while offering a complete, standalone two-player duel experience. Components can also integrate into the full game as optional expansions.
