Iwo Jima: Hell On Earth

Simulates the 36-day American assault to seize Iwo Jima, with each of nine turns representing about four days of combat. Players command US Marine units that move across the volcanic terrain, call in bombardments, and launch assaults while managing casualties, support assets (tanks, flamethrowers, artillery), and limited Command Points. Hidden Japanese defenses use a chit-pull system for ambushes, Banzai attacks, redeployments and raids, and Japanese bombardment and counterattacks influence US plans. Weather, airfield control and special orders affect bombardment and movement. Victory is determined after Turn 9 by Victory Points earned for eliminating enemy units and capturing key objectives, balanced against US losses and use of special orders.
