Nishikigoi

Players shape and close pond areas by playing overlapping pond cards to form enclosures marked by water-lily borders. Each round begins by rolling three dice to set target koi counts; players then take turns placing a pond card that may partially cover existing cards but never go underneath. When a pond area is closed, its koi composition is compared to the dice results: if the exact numbers match, five of the played cards are removed and placed on the deck bottom while the remainder are set aside as a completed, perfect pond. Play continues until the deck is exhausted and the imperial pond is full, then players tally completed ponds to evaluate results.
