Players lead a late-19th-century scientific expedition in Papua New Guinea, managing a team of scientists to explore, fund and sustain field operations. Gameplay revolves around rolling dice and allocating results to various areas—huts, logistics, expeditions, funding, hunting and fishing, and field notebooks—then assigning scientists to tasks where majority control resolves outcomes. Players collect money and food, recruit personnel, develop relationships with locals, and unlock new scoring opportunities through the board’s action spaces. The expeditions area uses secret bidding to acquire discoveries of plants, animals and tribes; final scoring awards prestige for sets of discoveries, and the highest-prestige player wins.
