Players portray the two lovers in 16th-century Verona and cooperatively try to unite despite hostile family factions. Communication is restricted: each player holds a hand of cards and a secret message board, and must use limited signals and card play to suggest meeting places and coordinate movements without speaking freely. A fold-out theatrical board represents locations across the city where the lovers and a few companions move as cards are played. The game runs through nine chapters with escalating difficulty; players win if the lovers’ affection reaches its peak before the third act ends, and lose if the families’ hatred drives the outcome to tragedy.
